FAQ's

The Erie County Foster Parent Association consists of every Foster Parent licensed with the Erie County Office of Children and Youth. All are welcome, and encouraged to join in on the many activities that we have for the foster families.

The Association is made up of five board members, the President, vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and the Area Rep Co Coordinator. Our monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, at the Days Inn at exit 7 off of I-90. The board meeting is from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and the general membership meeting is at 7:00pm until 9:00pm. Refreshments are available, and there is also some type of door prize given away to some lucky individual that is signed in before 7:15pm.

We always try to have a speaker at each meeting to help with the ever on going training that is needed to enable Foster Parents to be able to handle the children that are placed in our homes. Many times the socialization that goes on at a Foster Parent Meeting is of the greatest value to a Foster Parent that may be looking for some help with a particular problem, or maybe someone to do Respite, or just wants to share a story and talk to good people who have similar interest.

Some of the activities that go on through out the year are, a family picnic at Waldameer Park with food, rides, and fun for all. We go Rollerskating, Ice skating, and picnicking at the Erie Zoo. We even take over the movie theater at the mall for Foster Parent movie day. We are also always open to suggestions for new things to try.

So come out and join in with some of the nicest people that you will ever have the pleasure to meet, and help us help each other to make a difference in a child's life.

Sincerely,
Bob Riedel
President, Erie County Foster Parent Association
